Persian Ironwood spoon

This spoon is carved from Persian Ironwood (Parrotia persica) a tree native to Northern Iran and grown in the UK as an ornamental tree with pinkish-brown flaking bark and beautiful autumn colour in the leaves. This was from a smallish branch pruned from the tree in winter. The Anglo-Saxon runes say 'ironwood'.
